Do you believe people can converse with the afterlife?
What a hot question, right? Either you do or you don’t. Personally, I do believe that SOME people possess an ability to see and hear things that others can’t. Why is that? Is it a gift? A curse? From my own experience, I can say that I’ve had some very weird experiences that I can’t quite explain away. Dreams that come true. Thinking about something that might happen or something that someone might say and then it happens. Let me tell you a story that has stuck with me for 12 years now…
The Old Man at the Dentist
I was working as a dental assistant when I was pregnant with my son, Luke. I was VERY visibly pregnant so it was probably late winter of 2012. Our patient was an older gentleman. I brought him back to the room, got him settled in the chair, and as I was putting the bib on him, he looked at me and said, “You’re having a boy.” I said, “I am!” all excited. He looks at me and says, “I know you are, your mom told me.” My mom died when I was 5 years old. I was 30 at the time. I was speechless. Of course being pregnant already comes with the emotional rollercoaster, but add in someone telling you that your deceased mom told them you were pregnant, let’s just say I was a mess.
I went back into the staff room and had a good cry. When the man’s appointment was finished, I walked him to the front desk to check out. While standing there he proceeds to tell me that my mom is there with me. Cue the tears again!
How did this man, whom I’ve never met, tell me with certainty that I was having a boy and that my mom had told him? Why did he tell me that she was there with me that day? I never told him she had died, even when he said she told him about Luke.
How do you explain that?
